5-HTP is popping up all around health care products including our own sleep aid tablets. But what exactly is it? And why is it so useful to include in our products? What actually is 5-HTP?
5-HTP or 5-hydroxytryptophan is a naturally occurring amino acid that your body uses to make serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in mood, sleep, appetite, and pain perception. When we ingest external 5-HTP, we are supporting our body by regulating our mood and in the case of our sleep aid tablets, supporting our sleep.
Why is 5-HTP trending?
5-HTP has become increasingly popular in wellbeing routines due to its ability to fit several different consumers’ needs in one go. As mentioned, its potential healing properties include solutions to problems that many people suffer with every day. So it is no wonder that health care products are beginning to include this marvelous ingredient.
How does CBD help?
CBD is a cannabinoid found in the hemp plant which does not get you high. It supports the endocannabinoid system which is a vast system of receptors within our bodies. When we ingest CBD, we are assisting this system which in turn can help with problems such as sleep issues, stress and anxiety and also can help to alleviate pain.
When used for sleep, CBD helps with our sleep wake cycle which tells our body when to be awake and when to be asleep. Because sleep is such a challenging issue, we use a herbal blend of both lavender and 5-HTP to help support the CBD in getting you a good night sleep.
